Define the Charge nurse’s leadership style: The Nurse Manager’s leadership style is Shared (democratic) Leadership, but it is also laissez-faire. I believe that these leadership styles are most like hers because she empowers the staff to be decision makers while dispersing decision making throughout the group. Empowering the staff to make their own clinical decisions while still abiding by hospital policies gives people the opportunity to have more control. She prioritizes these duties by whichever is needed to be done first. She assigns patients that they already know are coming onto the unit, and if needed she does the initial vitals and provides the patients with the proper gown to change into. She then documents the vitals she took and makes sure all forms are ready and signed for the surgeon and the anesthetist to see.
