The care partners’ experiences with collaboration with home care services span a continuum. However, their descriptions of collaboration routines indicate that few or no systematic procedures exist. They receive little information, are rarely included in decision-making processes and seem to lack basic knowledge about legal rights. The care partners expressed the need for information, time for own activities and to remain in their original role, that is, not being forced into a care role. The care partners carry a great responsibility but make no demands until absolutely necessary. When help is received, they are mostly concerned about getting sufficient help for the service users and are particularly concerned about psychosocial needs.
