Tertiary prevention. Children in foster care benefit from a continuum care that delivers ongoing services. There are various services included in a continuum care that can address the medical needs of children. To promote positive outcomes for the children, effort has to be made to meet their physical, emotional and mental needs. Achieving a continuum of care embraces training and supporting foster caregivers, arranging access to specialized mental health services and providing transitional services for children who are waiting for permanent placement.
