This is when you do not share information without the knowledge and agreement of the client. This care value is very important because confidentiality towards a client needs to be met or the client may not feel obligated to tell you vital information because they would like their information to remain disclosed.

A negative effect of not showing confidentiality is that a patient could feel insecure in the future, when asked to provide their personal details. A positive effect of showing confidentiality is that the service provider will make the client feel more inclined to share important information and that the client will feel more willing to speak to their service provider about anything relating to their health.
