My own values include Respect, Trust & Equality. Firstly I was brought up to respect my elders & this is something I have always followed, I was brought up to never talk back to my elders, this I believe comes from Primary Socialization (the way in which our family teach us to act, mannerisms & behaviour towards others). I also believe that you should treat people the way you would like to be treated, if you respect yourself then you can shows others respect in return. This is an essential value that should be used in the care setting as service users have a right to be treated with respect this ties in with The National Care Standard which states that everyone should be treated with dignity & respect at all times & have their privacy & property …show more content…
Again I believe this come from primary socialization but can be largely changed throughout life by peers, relationship breakdown & family troubles. In a social care environment this is the main value as you have to build trust with the service users by communication to them daily, simple conversations can be the key to this. Slowly you will start to build trust by doing these simple every days tasks including talking with a happy smiley face, being friendly within working boundaries and not to break that …show more content…
Anti- Discriminatory practice is acting in a way that stops others feeling unfairly treated, this can be the way in which we speak to people, act towards them or treating them different due to their race, religion, sex or sexual orientation. Promoting Anti-discriminatory can be being aware of your own prejudges, if we aware of them then we can change them, not using stereotypes can as again these are generalisations of individual groups i.e. Scottish people all wear kilts. We can also confront discrimination in others, this could highlight there prejudges towards people & hopefully have a positive outcome. Values I believe relate best to anti discriminatory practice are choice, everyone has the right to make their own choices in life, whether is it picking out their own clothes, hairstyle, what they would like to do each day, lifestyle they want to have or job/career they which to have. In my work place we give our services users, choices in there every day life as much as they are able to make these choices for themselves as there disability may alter the choices they make being the safest choice for them for example, a services user may want to have ice cream for desert but there diet may stop them from being able to eat it as they could be on a thickened fluids as part of their diet which means there

Overall, a care network is a group that provides care for the child. It encompasses a myriad of options including professionals, immediate and extended family, and agencies. Communal care is best described as the shared duty of caring for a child or children living in the immediate community. In Lancy (2015), he best describes this when he is trying to match the children to their mothers. In this case, the children are as comfortable with their biological mother as they are with any of the other women in the group (p. 120).…

, 2006). Healthcare values are largely socially and culturally conditioned, and often not openly recognized or articulated, despite playing an integral role in defining the ethos of clinical practice (Fulford, 2001). Conversely "ethics" and ethical practice are frequently made explicit in "fixed and written codes". The aim and purpose of "ethics" are varied; from identifying legal standards of clinical practice, ensuring a sense of professionalism, to being a tool for clinical decision making (Hanson, 2005; Dahnke, 2014). Whereas, "Ethics refers to those rules of conduct that direct us to act in a manner consistent with the values we profess" (Lewis, 1982, p.12), and these rules are embodied in the Code of Ethics which "is intended to serve as a guide to the everyday professional conduct of social workers" (NASW, 1996,…

“For Colored Girls” The social problem displayed in the film that has been chosen for discussion is child abuse/domestic violence. Domestic violence is the willful intimidation of aggressive and physical assault, battery, sexual assault, and other abusive behavior as part of a systematic pattern of power and control perpetrated by one intimate partner against another (What is domestic violence ?, n.d.). There had been numerous instances where the children had repeatedly been in the emergency room for unexplained bruises. The children would make excuses as to how they got the marks and scars.…

When writing my response to the first reflection, at the beginning of this quarter, I had various thoughts of what a nurse was, based off of outside opinions and experiences. However, throughout this quarter, my idea of what a nurse is has evolved into something much deeper. I have realized nursing presents many concepts that seem simple but are truly complex when analyzed fully. Some of the concepts I found fascinating this quarter, and will explain, are a few of the nursing values and ethics. The class, also, discussed challenges that may arise in nursing practice.…

Many of us understand that first impressions count and people form opinions about us based on how we present ourselves through our language, appearance and behavior. This holds true for all healthcare in general. Nurses have to be aware of the importance of the image that they present during when providing care to the public. Professionalism within nursing is expected by patients and families and it makes them feel confident in the quality of care that they or their loved ones receive. Care values are ethical principles that care workers use and apply to their work. Some examples of the care values are anti-discriminatory practice and confidentiality. Confidentiality: This is when you do not share information without the knowledge and agreement of the client. The first AACN value that coincides with one of my values is integrity. I feel as though integrity and hard work go hand in hand. The AACN Baccalaureate Essentials describes integrity as a nurse performing his or her duty in an ethical manner, is honest, and performs patient care accordingly (AACN, 2008). This is a lot like hard work because one performs tasks in the correct manner and does an honest job. The next value is human dignity.…

I want to make patients happy, I want them to maintain their dignity and I want to provide care with as much compassion as I can give. The nurse-patient relationship is one that can be made over a short period of time, you as a nurse are doing things that require a good amount of trust. These patients trust that I will be competent enough to do what will benefit them and follows their wishes. Beth Israel Deaconess published an article about dignity in their hospital, this quote from the article gives a definition of dignity that I believe is quite fitting for what I value “Dignity: The recognition that each person has intrinsic, unconditional value” (BIDMC, 2015). While working in the clinical setting I make it my goal to treat each person as an individual, with specific needs and wants.…
