Introduction
Leadership is a subject that is talked about constantly from boardrooms to classrooms, from the courthouse to the Whitehouse, locally and globally, and yet we still seem to wrestle with finding an appropriate definition that we all can agree with. “My perspective of a leader is having a vision that compels people to share their time, gifts, and talents as a collaborative team to ensure the manifestation of the vision”. This paper will address the biblical and secular assumptions as a leader, authority, change, managing change, and transformational change.

Jesus was found leading as a teacher, preacher, healer, and redeemer. The bible states in the book of John, “for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him will not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16, NKJV)
Authority in a Leader
The dictionary defines authority as the power to give orders or make decisions. Just because someone has authority to accomplish something or lead in some capacity does not mean that the leader uses their authority for the good of others. A leader with the power to give orders could cause harm to an individual or group of people, such as Adolph Hitler. Managing Change
In the secular world, companies change daily. They move in different directions, implement downsizing, technology changes, strategic planning and cultural changes that will ultimately transform people and the organization they serve. Change is not always accepted with ease. There are many times change causes resistance. When managers are managing change they should assess carefully the approach they would take to implement and communicate change, so it will be sustained. (Palmer, Dunford, and Akin, 2009, pg. 12-13) Since the bible tells us that that God created the earth and everything that’s in it and on it.
God has no problem managing change, the world, or the people he created. God has given us the power to manage our families, jobs, bodies, church, and community. We are to co-partner with
God to manage life in the way God will have us to do so. We cannot operate in our own power, rather, submit to the Holy Spirit to manage and control the things we cannot.
