This dark side can increase the risk level to organization and threaten the well-being of subordinates. Many charismatic but corrupt leaders have allowed their personal goals to override the goals of their organization. They used organization resources for their personal benefit and violate laws and ethic. If charisma is the power, then that power can be used for good or for bad. They can used the power to convince the followers for achieve their personal goals.
There are three ways leader can influence others which is force, reason, or charm. Where is force and reason are rational even when we are “forced” to do something, we obey for a good reason. But, charm is not. Charm is based on emotional manipulation and, as such, it can trump any rational assessment and bias our views. Elon musk probably are optimism to get allegiance among his subordinates. He may use any ways to get a loyalty and trust from his workers. If he did not get this allegiance, maybe he will just throw out that’s person. He is not okay with the relationships. He is so obsessed with his work and leadership that he wants to be a leader everywhere. It's said that he even whispered to his first wife during their wedding, "I am the alpha in this relationship." Elon musk will use his power to get allegiance because he is bad in build a good relationship. Fifth, charismatic leaders sometimes go from confident to arrogant, from bold to excessive in their risk taking. Elon believes no one can come to his level of intelligence. He may alienate his follower to take all the credit for their success. The success of a leader is because of his subordinates.
