A bland and somewhat vague definition of a leader is “A person who leads or commands a group, organization, or country” (Merriam-Webster). This definition can be divided into two more specific categories which consist of being a bad leader or great one. Tailoring the argument would consist of specifying the definition of a great leader, an example of this would be “Leadership is the art of leading others to deliberately create a result that wouldn’t have happened otherwise”. This definition shows the mechanics behind what it takes to be a leader and how persuasive one individual can be to lead the group to good or bad decision. The queen shows through leadership how gender roles should become more equalized. Muhammad shows that perseverance and passion can lead to a well thought after religion composed of millions of followers which both demonstrate what qualities it takes to be a successful leader.
The queen in the story of the Wife of Bath tale definitely has character flaws but her ruthless behavior and decision making was strategic and deliberate to get her point across. A knight who is a figure of power and masculinity during this time rapes a woman due to lust. Having raped the young maiden, the knight needed to face his punishment which was dealt by the queen who shows a powerful women role within the text. Most would be defeated and simple give up in a lot of circumstances that Muhammad faced, but through his determination he always found a way to remain driven and passionate. Muhammad faced a lot of disapproval when talking and preaching about his thoughts and dream. One phrase in the text gave an accurate description Mohammad character with the facing of adversity “Only a strong and brave man, helped by Allah, can be a true prophet because people often refuse to listen to Allah's message”. This is explaining that he in not giving up and is determine to get the word of Allah across. One context example is when Muhammad’s family and mecca was doing poorly and they barely had enough food to eat “The Prophet began to speak secretly of Allah's message to those Who were close to him and whom he could trust. Abu Talib, the Prophet's uncle, who had taken care of him after his grandfather's death, was finding it very difficult to feed his large family”. This excerpt from the passage and Muhammad can be seen as an analogy to a candle’s flame. No matter how dim and wispy the flame is, it can still produce light and enlightenment to those who surrounds the flame known as Muhammad. Determination is key when being a great leader but one needs passion to fuel the determination which is seen within Muhammad.
