One must understand or know the Creed of Non-Commissioned Officers, Warrior Ethos, or Army Values to gain an insight into the NCO’s role as a professional in The Profession of Arms. “No one is more professional than I” (U.S. Army: Army Values, 2016), represents more than an opening statement, but one filled with a history of expertise, commitment, and accountability that has been achieved through the specialized training and responsibility brought on by this role. The article, An Army White Paper: The Profession of Arms, addresses the role of the United States Army as a Profession of Arms, how this has changed in the last decade due to “persistent conflict” and the importance of establishing a discussing that seeks to define what the Profession of Arms entails in these changing times (U.S. Army, 2010).
