Soldiers in the 35P Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) face many challenges as the progress through their language school and Advanced Individual Training (AIT). They spend six to 18 months focusing all their attention on learning a second language at an accelerated pace and when they have accomplished that daunting task they are sent to Goodfellow Air Force Base to learn the technical aspect of their MOS, usually another three or four months of training. By the time a 35P Soldier arrives at their first duty assignment they have two or more years of service. They have received extensive training in language and technical aspects of their job, but they have received little, if any, tactical training pertaining to their jobs. For those Soldiers assigned to a FORSCOM unit, the lack of tactical training has posed a problem for tactical unit commanders and they demand a fix. These courses provided follow on training specifically to Soldiers who were assigned to a FORSCOM unit which focused on the tactical aspect and skills of 35P Soldiers. The course length was 6 weeks and the curriculum was aimed at teaching the equipment that Soldiers would use while assigned to a Brigade Combat Team (BCT) or Brigade Forward Support Battalion (BFSB). Training within the course covered equipment, reporting skills and tactical movements. Soldiers were sent to their units requiring very little On the Job (OJT) training upon completion of the course and were both tactically and technically proficient. Establishing a course similar to CEWEOC or Prophet Operator would require additional man power and money, but realistically could be cheaper than an attempt to build tactical training course into existing AIT
