Before this information was released the media and internet found Ryan enjoyed playing Mass Effect (another shooting game) which was then blamed by hundreds for the shooting that occurred. Although Ryan had nothing to do with the shooting people instantly blamed the video games he enjoyed playing. One Facebook comment to the mass effect Facebook page by and unknown user stated “a guy who loves this game just shot and killed 25 people based on this game, and we think these games have no effect on people? He KILLED 18 KINDERGARTEN kids in cold blood” another stated “Yeah…Ryan Lanza “LIKED” your game. He just gunned down a kindergarten class” (Menezes).
