Injecting drugs and chemicals into animals is not a safe way to test cosmetics but rather there are many invasive ways to test cosmetics. “Technologies such as MRI, fMRI, EEG, PET, and CT are replacing the need to perform vivisections on the brains of rats, cats, and monkeys” (“Technological Alternatives Can End the Experimental Use of Animals”). These tests are used on humans to find and cure diseases like various cancers. If the federal government puts funding towards the maintaining of these machines, there will be less animals harmed plus there will be more alternatives to select from besides experimentation. While rats, cats, and monkeys have those various tests, there are safer tests for all the animals.
“[Computer] Models are also being used to simulate human metabolism in an effort to predict plaque buildup and cardiovascular risk. These same systems are also being used to evaluate drug toxicity—tests that would have normally involved the use of lab animals. And as we reported a few months ago, new computer simulations can even help scientists predict the negative side effects of drugs” (“Technological Alternatives Can End the Experimental Use of Animals”). There are more and more alternatives being developed every day in order to revolutionize science. Due to these alternatives being developed, animal testing is
