Animal Testing Necessary Essay

Approximately 92% of experimental drugs that are safe and effective in animals eventually fail in human trials because they end up not working or are too dangerous. That begs the question whether or not animal testing is a necessary practice. If the product is going to go to human trial anyways, why not start there? Although some may argue that put people’s lives in danger, but that is what volunteers are for. As well as having volunteers there are also people who are in prison for heinous crimes that could be used to be tested on. Nobody can force anyone to do anything but if someone is willing to help the cause, there is no reason to stop them. That brings up the point that you cannot force a person to participate in product trial that …show more content…
According to Troy Seidle a pole concluded that, “88 percent of us believe animal testing causes pain and suffering to animals and that such suffering just for cosmetics isn’t worth it, especially when safe ingredients are already available,”(Seidle). Considering that most people don’t feel the need to buy products with newly tested ingredients, why should companies continue to do that it is not an absolutely necessary practice. There are thousands of chemicals out there that have already gone through the process of being tested so it wouldn’t be like companies couldn’t make new products, they could make many. Yes companies want to make money by selling newly improved products but that is not going to make people want to buy products that aren’t apart of their daily use. Gregory Mone states that animal testing is a long and expensive process and can take several years and use up millions of dollars to carry out, (Mone). The United States of America is already in enough national debt so they should stop animal testing in order to prevent even more debt caused which could go down if those million dollar test come to an end. People may say what else could they do, that is where computers come in there are many ways to analyze the way a chemical could react to the human body, it might be a big purchase at first but it will last for several years. Overall in the long run …show more content…
Aditi Verma says that these “sophisticated computer and mathematical models” are nothing but alternative methods, (Verma). A fairly recent invention of the 3-D printer which can print out skin models which are able mimic how skin could possibly react to a certain product. As well as having skin models pharmaceuticals companies run the molecular structure of a chemical through a computer database and the computer produces results on what could possibly happen when that drug is used. Also science is improving more and more everyday which can make more alternatives to animal testing. Arna Cohen says that companies can create new cosmetics by choosing among thousands of ingredients that have been tested in the past and proven to be safe, (Cohen). Since there are already thousands of already tested safe ingredients companies might as well stick to what they know and not risk causing harm to even more animals than some may have already caused. In addition to no longer causing harm to animals it will also save companies great amounts money to use already tested products because they would no longer have to run million dollar test in order to see if a new chemical will work. Then companies just have worry about the overall product instead of the individual chemicals and ingredients. It is a clear choice to no longer test products on animals because of the

Testing cosmetics on animals is a very controversial issue that has grown over the past years. I believe that cosmetic animal testing is wrong and should be banned because it is cruel, inaccurate, not very reliable, and has been proven to be unnecessary. Approximately 200,000 animals will suffer and die every year for cosmetics around the world. We as a whole have all decided that this is not necessary which is why we stopped making testing on animal cosmetics something that had to be done. Companies still continue to do it.…

People, especially scientists, are hurting innocent animals that did no harm to anyone. Animal testing shouldn't be allowed to happen because animals are getting hurt, they are not protected, and animals get mistreated. One reason that animal testing shouldn’t be allowed is because animals are getting hurt. For instance, the Draize eye test involves rabbits having their eyelids clipped open for as long as multiple days so that they don’t blink the product being tested away. Popular cosmetic brands like L'oreal, Lancome, Estee Lauder, and S.C. Johnson are used on animals.…

There are plenty of other alternatives that can be used. Cosmetic animal testing should be banned because it does not improve human life or lead to any medical breakthroughs. Animals are used to test many different substances or products for either medical or cosmetic purposes.…

Animal testing is an unpopular subject in the animal rights debate; people attempt to avoid it because of how unsettling it is. Especially when it comes to cosmetics, it seems too difficult to find a brand that does not test on animals at all, so people choose to ignore the facts and buy whatever products they want. The Humane Society claims that “worldwide rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice, and rats are blinded, poisoned, and killed to test new cosmetic products and their ingredients,” (“Cruelty Free: Infographic”). With online activism on the rise, more information than ever before is available about the research methods used on animals and people can view horrifying pictures of animals that have been used for tests. The disgust people…

The majority of these casualties are a result of cosmetic companies’ intensive experimentation methods. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) did a study on the positive outcomes of tests, roughly “ninety-two percent of drugs tested fail to meet the standards for human use,” basically what this means is most drugs are proved safe for animals, but fail in human clinical trials (“Animal Testing”). That is just a study in 2016, each year the percent increases so do the number of animals who are tested and the ones that die; at this rate, nothing is improving. The testing of beauty products on animals have a vast way of wasting lives due to one particular test. The major cost of these tests is they are causing more human deaths and saving fewer lives. A research study was done on this topic and the worst case of this point is “Vioxx” which killed more than 60.000 plus humans during 2003-2004, this drug was entirely deemed safe in animal testing, but on the markets was another story (“It’s Tax”).…

Scientists have begun to move from inhumane ways of testing, to methods that substitute non-living subject for animals. These substitutes are more relevant to human health than animals are. One of the modern methods of testing includes vitro methods, an advanced test using human cells and tissues to create a better testing model for the human body. Another alternative is using modern computer-modeling techniques called silico models to better understand how the product will affect humans. The use of these methods are more effective to human health, biology, and the body.…

Humans do not see that when companies test their products on animals that some animals suffer. Often humans care about which product is the best and that desire overshadows how companies found their products safe to use in the first place. Therefore companies should stop testing their products on animal testing because it cruel and it is inconvenient. The main reason why we animal test is for cosmetic research, not medical research, which is the only type that can be half accepted. Medical research for humans on animals means they still do not get the correct results we need because of the two different reactions of chemicals in two different animals. Popular brands hide the way they animal test because they know that when people find out their product will not sell as well. Global warming is also a huge and rising problem on our earth, and by cutting out cosmetic research on animals, it will mean a few hundred less factories running around the world and releasing fumes into the atmosphere. This will mean a lot of jobs lost, but there are plenty more jobs in the world and it will only benefit our world.…

Animal Testing Paper After decades of animal testing, most cosmetic companies have ruled out the ingredients that don 't benefit their products. With this knowledge, they are able to produce cosmetics with ingredients that are known to be safe for use. Animal testing should not be justified by our enjoyment of cosmetics. The torture and premature death that animals have to endure is inhuman because they have no choice, but cosmetic companies do have the option to take another route to test cosmetics. Other options include paying human volunteers to test the makeup, using the new computer programs that mimics human biology, and using human tissues and cells also known as Vitro Testing.…
