2. Introduction
There are a wide variety in types of advertisements used in selling products or services and disseminating information. Among these, public service announcement (PSA), are messages in the public interest disseminated by the media with the objective of raising awareness, changing public attitudes and behaviour towards a social issue.
For this essay, I have chosen a PSA as the subject of analysis mainly because I have found very interesting in terms of it design and effectiveness. I have taken this advert from the website of an advocacy group in the USA called Moms Demand Action. This advert presents the concerns of lax laws on gun control in America to prevent gun violence especially in educational spaces.
As shown above, all three images in this PSA series represent the same theme. I have analysed of only the first one called “‘Choose One’ - Little Red Riding Hood or An Assault Weapon”.

They use the harmless colour of peace makes the same association with their cause. The exclamation mark in the logo makes it seem important and leaves the viewer with a sense of urgency associated with the cause the organization working for.
13. Conclusion:
This PSA has become the symbol of the call of Moms to protect their children. The gloomy school room, sad faces of children, colour tone, dark lighting, the shocking scene of weapon in the hand of a child, the indicated absurdity of banning books instead of guns and the urgency in asking to think about the issue and to take action – all of these make the advert an ingenious one serving its purpose.
The objective of this series of PSA is to make people aware of the weakness of current regulations of guns, raise debate and take actions for a necessary reform to protect the citizens of the USA particularly the children.
