Oscar Wilde once said, “The heart was made to be broken.” Although this statement may hold some truth, it does not mask the pain that it comes with. Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” and “Hello” tell the story of a crime committed by love all too often, Heartbreak. In “Rolling in the Deep” she tells the story of the victim. While in “Hello” she becomes the attacker looking for redemption.Every crime committed has two sides and this is no different. In “Rolling in the Deep” Adele has become a victim of heartbreak. She is angry and hurt at the same time. She has given her all to her significant other and all they did was break her heart in twos. “ You had my heart inside your hand and you played it to the beat.” Adele couldn’t quite understand why they would want to make her heart feel as though it was on fire, when all she did was love them. All she wants is revenge. Like most people who experience heartbreak she wants her attacker to feel what she feels. “See how I leave with every piece of you. Don't underestimate the things that I will do.” Adele wants her attacker to know that although they have broken her, they too will “reap just what you sow.” Her pain was more than she could take and all she wanted was to see them suffer, although she loved them deeply. …show more content…
Adele wants to be forgiven for her wrongful behavior. She accepts the fact that she has hurt someone, and she wants the chance to make it up. “At least I can say that I've tried. To tell you I'm sorry for breaking your heart.” However, she has caused too much damage and it can not be fixed. Adele is looking for redemption and for forgiveness from the one she loves. The attacker feels the pain of her own actions. Some may forget that although the attacker has committed the action they too care. People only fight for things they feel strongly about and for Adele to apologize shows she too

Joyas Volardores The most important organ in the body, the driving force behind us all, the heart. In Joyas Volardores, Brian Doyle uses imagery and facts to compare and contrast the hearts of hummingbirds, whales, and humans, physically and emotionally. The initial reading gives the reader a surface view of comparing the hearts of these animals, it is not until I really analyzed the last paragraph that I saw the deeper meaning Doyle was trying to exemplify. Through size comparisons he shows that no matter the pursuit of life, immaculate or miniscule, that life is precious and should not be taken for granted.…

“I Feel Pretty,” white patriarchy, and entrapment in West Side Story For many film musical fans, West Side Story (Robert Wise, Jerome Robbins, 1961), is a difficult film. While the creativity and artistry of West Side Story instill a sense of joy, the film exemplifies some troubling ideas about race and gender. In fact, Ernesto Acevedo-Muñoz praises the song for “allowing her [Maria] to show some sexual initiative and desire” (Acevedo-Muñoz 106).…

Without feeling any remorse she rejects him in the cruelest way possible, now letting him know how and what she felt. A literary device strongly mentioned in the song is metaphor the line “I should have changed that stupid lock / I should have made you leave your keys”. This line represents an emotional object holding her back from her new goals. Voice of the voiceless was also mentioned in this song, since many women get abused by their spouses or former (if they decided to free themselves) and don't have the courage to speak up unlike what Gloria Gaynor…

The man has clearly tried to make it seem like she is the one causing the problems in their relationship, and that it is not his alcoholism that is causing problems, and that he would rather blame her than blame himself for the cause of their problems. This is further backed up by line fifteen in the same stanza, when the speaker says, “Couldn’t take the blame, sick with shame” (Evanescence, 2006). The man in the song clearly feels shame when faced with his own faults and the fact that he is to blame for the relationship failing, but he would rather continue to blame the woman and the alcohol for all of his problems rather than facing the truth that it is all his fault. The woman then goes to point out that she knows this in line sixteen in the same stanza, “Must be exhausting to lose your own game, selfishly hated” (Evanescence, 2006). The speaker knows that the man she is speaking to has caught onto the fact that she knows that he would rather blame her for their failing relationship and that by continuing to blame her he is being selfish and she is slowly growing to hate him for this never-ending cycle.…
