Pathos In Song Drake

Improved Essays
Drake uses pathos throughout this song. Pathos is a way to make people feel pity or sympathy for you. Pathos is used within the song because he is telling how the girl is treating him now and he’s having a hard time accepting the fact. The girl once looked up to Drake, but now that he has risen to fame, she decides that she wants something different in life. He uses pathos within these particular lines "everybody knows and I feel left out," "girl you got me down, you got me stressed out," and "you used to call me on my cell phone/late night when you need my love." Drake wants the audience to feel sympathy for him because the girl has somewhat kicked him to the curb. Also, he’s wanting us to feel sympathy because he’s saying “I know when that

Cowritten by Childish Gambino and Ludwig Göransson in 2012 for Childish Gambino’s album Camp, “Heartbeat” narrates a dysfunctional relationship that cannot be salvaged despite the poetic voice’s desire to do so. [con’t] “Heartbeat” is visibly a song full of confusion, which the narrative voice decides to pass on to the reader as well. Instead of offering full insight for the reader, the reader is forced to follow along with the confusion and stress being felt by the poetic voice. With lyrics such as “I wanted you to know” (Childish Gambino 1) and “I read his posts on your wall and I feel sick” (Childish Gambino 61), the usage of the words “you” and “your” makes the reader infer that the song’s audience is meant to be the female subject. The song I have chosen to analyze is called Where I Wanna Be, sung by an R&B artist named Donnell Jones. I decided to choose this song because of the message the artist portrays, which deals with a young man who is not ready to fully commit in a relationship between him, and his girlfriend.
