• “Ultralight Beam” by Kanye West is the first song on this soundtrack. The second verse by Kelly Price talks about how “You persecute the weak / Because it makes you feel so strong,” similar to when Atticus talks about how Mayella is putting this man on trial so she doesn’t have to deal with the fact she kissed a black man. They both possess the mood of being somber. The song makes you feel as if there are problems that have been corrected and you finally feel free. The book, however, highlights the racial divide between whites and blacks. Though their mood is different, they both have similar meanings. This happened in chapter18.

This song talks about the speaker driving up to Oakland to see his girlfriend and can’t wait to get away from all the horrors of where he is living only to be met with new problems. This is similar to the fact that in the book Mayella is trying to get away from the horrors of kissing a black man by lying and saying that he raped her, trying to get him killed. Yet, she doesn’t know about the problems that can erupt from having an innocent man killed. The tone of both the book and the song is tense. You feel tense and a bit excited in the song when the speaker is talking about the problems he faces when he gets to his girlfriend. In the book, it is tense because you find out Mayella’s real reason for going to court. This happened in chapter …show more content…
This song talks about the speaker who is abused by her boyfriend but she stands by him because she loves him. This is similar to when we find out that Mayella was abused by her father but still loves him because well, it’s her father. They both show unhealthy relationships and how bad things can be at home. The mood in both of this song and the book is desperate. They are both desperate for love and will do anything to stay by their family/man. This is in chapter 17.
• “F*** Tha Police” by the N.W.A. is the eighth and final song on this soundtrack. This song talks about how the group is racially profiled. Similar to the book where Tom Robinson is used as the fall guy for a crime. Tom Robinson is used as the fall guy because he is black. Since blacks are so openly disliked, no one would believe him. The mood is retaliation. It shows that these things are happening and they need to end as early as

kay, so now we know about timshel, but it's also Adam's last word before he dies (at least it wasn't something totally random like rosebud). He says it right after Lee gets him to give Cal his blessing, i.e. show that he loves him as a son and free him from the guilt of "killing" his brother. It's a moment where things are at a crossroads for Cal: he could go on hating himself for what he has done and thinking that his dad died hating his guts, or he can be free and go on to break the Cain-Abel curse that seems to follow the Trask family around. As Lee says to Adam, "Give him his chance"…

The reaction that this song is trying to express is that from an early age it is important that we teach and show our children that doing the right thing is an imperative to leading a good life. Also, that when stray from that vision we end up suffering and losing everything we hold important to us as human beings. The social problems referenced in this song generally revolve around how young minorities in large city environments tend to join gangs and get influenced by their peers to turning to crime to find wealth. Eventually, these children get addicted to the life of crime and turn to robbery, drugs, and murder in order to survive.…

I can also see the song jump in again near the end of the novel when Max disappears and when Hans goes out to war, and again when Rudy dies. This song is a slow song, its also a sad song in the beginning and nearing the end its almost like its ok to let go, its ok to feel sad, but in the end you know you’ll be ok type of song. This relates to the book in many ways because of the amount of death that takes place in the novel. It affects the main characters in many ways especially Liesel since the book talks more about her life than any other character in the book. Which links it to one of the strongest symbols I have noticed in this book is the amount of love that takes place in it.…

The jury convicts Tom Robinson, because they think it is right to do so because he is of African American decent. He is falsely accused of raping Mayella Ewell, this here is the theme of injustice being shown. Later in the novel Tom Robinson is is killed. Injustice is shown through the false accusations of Tom Robinson, racism, and the conviction of the crime Conviction is . Although justice is found when Bob Ewell (father to Mayella Ewell) is killed by the shy and misunderstood character Boo Radley, Justice is found because Bob Ewell conveys terrible qualities towards Atticus Finch and Tom Robinson.…

If you think back to all the songs you heard three years ago in 2014, it’s of high chance that you think of the song “Radioactive”. This extremely popular song was sung by the famous rock band Imagine Dragons, and composed with the help of Alex Da Kid. When this track released, critics were praising every note and lyric. This number was introduced through many commercials and trailers, which was part of the reason it was a “sleeper hit”- a song that makes a gradual rise to popularity. “Radioactive” also holds the record for most weeks spent on the Billboard Hot 100 at 87 weeks.…

I believe the song titled Just the Way You Are relates to the inner conflict in To Kill A Mockingbird. The inner conflict is when Atticus gets appointed to defend Tom Robinson in court and Atticus chooses to defend him willingly, and Scout in the beginning thinks very lightly on the situation and she doesn’t quite understand why Atticus is defending a colored person, she later realizes what Atticus is doing is right and she would like him to stay the way he is since he’s a great father. This song relates to the conflict because at the time she realizes Atticus is doing the right thing, it’s as if she’s the one writing the song and it’s directed to Atticus. The song includes very inspirational words and gives off an optimistic vibe which fits how Scout thinks of Atticus later on.…

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the song “Hey There Delilah” by the Plain White T’s. I will do this by including how the artist is illustrating his story, identifying the message and tone of the song, as well as the artist’s appeal to the audience. This paper will also break down the songs organization and the artist’s figurative language in the lyrics of the song and the style in which it is delivered. In this song, the artist’s main point and my thesis, is that he is head over heels in love with a girl named Delilah. He wants to tell the world how and Delilah herself how much he loves her, and how their love conquers the distance between them.…

As the opening lines describe, “Happiness hit her like a train on a track, Coming towards her, stuck still no turning back”(Line 1-2). For the song’s protagonist, happiness came abruptly and forcefully. Although happiness is generally perceived as a positive emotion, comparing the feeling to being run over by a train shows how terrifying it can be. Because of this feeling, the protagonist is wary of happiness, and “She hid around corners and she hid under beds, She killed it with kisses and from it she fled, With every bubble she sank with a drink, And washed it away down the kitchen sink”(lines 3-6). The protagonist is someone who is not used to being joyful, hence she reacts negatively and tries to flee from happiness, mistrusting it.…

And that's the sound of sunshine coming down And that's the sound of sunshine coming down.” I could see this song being used two different times in the book, but I chose this one because I feel like this song is a good one to start a movie/book with. The book says that nick just got out of a war and decided to get a new job corer. In the song they say “gust waiting for this storm to pass me by” which could also represent war and waiting to get back home.…

The accusation of rape upon nine Negro men in Scottsboro, Alabama was a racism-driven tragedy in American history. Two young women, Victoria Price and Ruby Bates, accused nine young Negro men of raping them on the train ride from Chattanooga, Tennessee to Paint Rock, Alabama. The rape accusation came about when Haywood Patterson’s hand was stepped on by a white on top of the train, leading to the blacks fighting the whites off of the train. The fight was triggered when one white said “This is a white man’s train.” When the train stopped in Paint Rock, the whites of the town took their guns and confronted the blacks, taking all of them off of train, thus finding Victoria Price and Ruby Bates looking disheveled.…

To Kill a Mockingbird is a great book showing how people can grow together. We have Scout and Jem growing up together in an innocent childhood growing into adulthood. We have Tom Robinson, an African American man who, is going to court with Atticus Finch (scouts father) and is trying to defend Tom against the harming white community. Tom Robinson was accused of rape of a white female Mayella. The raping of a white woman by a black man is similar to The Scottsboro Trial in 1933, where 9 black men were falsely accused of raping two white women.…

It was once said about a 6-year-old boy that, “He ain’t company, he’s just a Cunningham.” The little girl who said that was never taught to respect people’s differences, even if she thinks that she’s better than him. Three significant themes from the book are good and evil, moral education, and social inequality. First things first, the coexistence of good and evil. Atticus Finch decided to defend a black man in a trial even though he was certain that he was going to lose anyway (Lee 75).…

Every song has its unique theme which expresses critical messages and reflects the life at a particular time. One of the most influential R&B (rhythm and blues) song is the anti-war song "what's going on" by Marvin Gaye on 21 may 1971. It is one of the top twenty political songs as mentioned in New-statesman by Jennifer Thompson. The "what's going on" song and its album have the same name. The album comprises nine songs which related to each other so it has been categorized as a song cycle.…

To Kill a Mockingbird - “Atticus said to Jem one day, “I’d rather you shot at tin cans in the back yard, but I know you'll go after birds. Shoot all the Bluejays you want, if you can hit 'em, but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird." This passage was a major part of the story because of the symbolism that has now been revealed. The Mockingbird is a harmless and pure hearted animal, which in this story symbolizes Boo Radley and Tom Robinson. I chose this passage because of the strong meaning behind it.…

Have you ever heard a song that has impacted your life? Songs are a form of art that allows artists to express their feelings in a form of music. Songs can be interrupted in many ways; some songs have a more literal meaning, while other songs require you to interpret the lyrics to understand the deeper meaning. Artists often use figurative, metaphorical, and poetic elements in their songs to help develop the overall message. The use of figurative terms in a song leaves the interpretation of the song broad and allows the listener to have their own meaning of the song.…
