Survival of the Genders
Sexism happens with the female gender almost everyday.Usually they are supposedly just good at cooking and cleaning which isn't 100% true.Women can work just as hard as men to get what they want and/or need;some of them don’t even need a male partner to survive.
In the song “Survivor” is about how women rely on men to get places and most things done while women just do house work but in this song its the complete opposite.It's survival of the fittest because without the strength they currently don't seem to have they would died.So women are not fragile as perceived the song.A literary device mentioned in this song was irony in the first and fourth stanza.The man believed that he has to be the strongest person in the world and his lover would die off without him she doing even more successful and richer than when they were together.”Now that you're out of my life, I'm so much better/You thought that I'd be weak without you, but I'm …show more content…
Without feeling any remorse she rejects him in the cruelest way possible, now letting him know how and what she felt.A literary device strongly mentioned in the song is metaphor the line “I should have changed that stupid lock / I should have made you leave your keys”.This line represents an emotional object holding her back from her new goals.Voice of the voiceless was also mentioned in this song, since many women get abused by their spouses or former (if they decided to free themselves) and don't have the courage to speak up unlike what Gloria Gaynor
