However, these sctructures have always been criticated for many reasons by the animalist; first of all, if we take again into consideration the economical aspect, it is a big disadvantage, as it is extremely expensive to take care of an animal, esapecially mammals, in all theirt needs; for example, the IDA (In defense of animals) stated that it is at least 50 times more expensive to maintain elephants in zoos than to protect equivalent numbers of elephants in the wild.
