Wild Animals In Captivity Research Paper

Animals should not live a meaningless life trapped inside a cage. Everyday all around the world animals are deprived of the amazing life they could live in the wild. They are taken away from their families and natural environments to do tricks and be trapped in cages at the zoo and they are unhappy. Some critics may argue it is easier to keep animals alive when they are being monitored in a zoo or aquarium. These helpless animals are suffering physically and mentally due to their experiences and it must be stopped. To start, animals should not be taken away from their natural environments. This can first be supported in the article “Wild Animals in Captivity”. It says, “Placing an animal in surroundings that are unsuitable for the species can cause stress and behavioural problems. Animals kept in an improper environment or fed the wrong diet can suffer, resulting in illness or death”. If the animal is not familiar with the surroundings it may not adjust right, just like the article said, resulting in illness or death. This can be supported again in the article “Zoos”, it says “Many animals in zoos show signs of distress, such as pacing or rocking backwards and forwards repeatedly. This is a good point but that is what living in the wild is all about. These animals are challenged to come up with strategies and use their brain. They develop independence and other traits they would never receive in cages. In the article, “Animals Should Not be Kept in cages”. It says,” Animals who are kept in cages will never know what it’s like to be free, hunt and live in it’s natural habitat.
