Are Zoos Ethical?
Zoos are a fun place you can take anyone of any age to go see animals that you would not see on an average day. You can see anything from elephants to sea creatures. Zoos are a safe place for many animals around the world. Zoos can help care for animals in need and can better help their health. Zoos are a safe and happy place for animals to grow and evolve and for children and families to come and experience the joy of a zoo.
Animals are able to live their lives to the fullest while being at zoos. In a report from Frontline "A Whale Of A Business,” by Eric Holt, states "Those who work with captive animals in aquariums and zoos have a special obligation to convey knowledge of the natural world to the public, to interpret the lives of animals accurately .." The article talks about how the workers at zoos are prepared to take care of any problem with any animal. They have a special duty to take care of the animals and the environments that the animals live in. It goes on to say that the animals can fully live their lives without any setbacks. They can socialize with other animals in their group and eat and sleep and play as usual. The animals are happy with the care they get from the zoo workers. In the Schoolastics’ article called “Endangered Animals,” it states that the animal is put into an area that mimics its natural habitat. For example, they might put a monkey in an area that would mimic the wild, and or the outside. The animals are most likely put into an area with glass panels so nobody from the outside can get in and the animals cannot get out. The animals are happy with this set up because they are safer and calmer. The animals will be put in a calming area with other animals like them with workers taking very good care of them at every
