In the month of November of 1923, a United States $1 was worth 4 billion German marks (Michal). In that same month on the 9th, Hitler went to the Beer Hall Putsch as an attempt to over through the German government (Giblin 36). When he was there he tried to talk about how he was only trying to save to the German race for the evil of the Republicanism. In this he was unsuccessful (Giblin 37). As time went by Hitler started to try to recruit more people. He went after people that were young, unemployed, or that were a part of the lower middle class. The lack of confidence in the government at the time made it incredibly easy for Hitler to gain a large group of followers (“Hitler Comes to Power”). Millions of people were looking for communist for their salvation. They saw the Hitler that hated to the Treaty of Versailles and thought that he would be a good leader. They wanted him to enter the race to become President, but Hitler did not want that he wanted ultimate power, Chancellor (Giblin 64). After a little bit of time Hitler decide to run for President. He did not win, he only won 3% of the vote for the first time, then the second time he ran for it he won 33% of the vote. Which was a good sign for him. There were so many excuses, that they had to do what they did, but the one that stands out to me is that they represented everything that the Nazis despised. The Nazis believed that the money was controlled by Jewish financiers and that they were trying to modernize the cultural through movements like psychoanalysis and swing music (Michal).
