“On January 22, 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court handed down its landmark decision in the case of Roe v. Wade, which recognized that the constitutional right to privacy extends to a woman’s right to make her own personal medical decisions — including the decision to have an abortion without interference from politicians” (Parenthood). The biggest debate about abortion has been pro-life and pro-choice. Pro-life supporters believe that abortion should be outlawed; while pro-choice supporters believe that abortion is a choice of the woman. I will defend the pro-choice view. To defend my view on pro-choice, I will present my first argument, women have complete control of their bodies, special circumstances for abortion, life begins at birth, and preventing illegal methods so that abortion is 100% legal.
My opponent is defending the pro-life view, where there is no other option than for women to carry the fetus to full term. In pro-life, abortion is frowned upon. They are defending the pro-life view because they believe life begins at conception, irresponsibility of the woman, and illegal methods of abortion. In many cultures around the world, women are restricted to their personal lives. In the United States, women were not given the right to vote until around the 1920’s. Even today, in some Middle Eastern countries, women cannot wear what they want to. They cannot show any part of their body except their face, in some circumstances they are only allowed to show their eyes. So…
