Personal Narrative: My Love In A Football Team

Jake was over on the far side of the gym shooting on one of the side rims. After coach was done talking in the huddle I walked over to Jake and introduced my self to him. I said “Hey Jake, Im coach Baker, how are you?” Jake looked at me with a big smile and said “Come rebound for me”. The first half of practice I would work with coach and the rest of the boys of offense and defense, and the second half I would devote my time to helping Jake. I helped Jake learn to dribble with his head up, and how to shoot the ball with the proper form from about 5 feet or so from the basket. We had so much fun. There were many days where I came to practice in a bad mood, and the moment I would see Jake and hear him say “Hey Zach, come help me shoot” it would completely change my mood! Jake always had the biggest smile on his face and an awesome attitude, and we began to build a bond that would change who I

I was so eager to be called a “ non rookie” for once. One time we shot with the team and the coach used me as an example, man does that make ya feel special. Just to know that I could be one of those people that would help the new kids was awesome. Even though I got pretty good at shooting I still had many problems with my stance and focus. I was so dedicated to becoming a better shooter that I got Anthony Matarese the 19 Time NSCA All-American shooter to help me and show me what I am doing wrong.…

I had expected there to be an empty court but instead, I would play with a team from a local school. At first, I thought that I would do terrible, but to my surprise, my hard work with the ball paid off. My dribbling skills had gotten much better, and during the two weeks that I practiced with the team, I improved my shot. When we got back home to Atlanta, I continued to practice and for the first time, I beat my friend at on-on-one on Labor Day weekend. Now, I still have one goal remaining.…

Carrie was our coach and she made practice so much fun each and every day. While being a part of the modified basketball team I got to know a few girls, Abby Taylor, Jenna Kesner, and Haleigh Agans, who ended up being my teammates all throughout high school and we accomplished great things…
