    Throughout the last several years, the emergence of the point guard position in the NBA has been evident. The traditional "pass first" PG is slowly becoming more absent throughout the league. Point guards are rapidly improving from year to year and the position is very much as competitive as it has ever been in NBA history. Point guards are taking on more responsibility such as scoring the ball efficiently and more often, setting teammates up to score and defending at a high level. These guards are becoming more athletic which is essentially expanding their abilities to dominate. Chris Paul and Deron Williams were arguably the two top guards in the mid-2000's, however, the guard position has just continued to improve since then.
