Specifically, I believe that I am somewhere between stage four and stage five. When I reflect on my past experiences, I realize that I have either been obedient to authority (stage four), or I have made decisions based upon reason (stage five). For example, when I worked at a grocery store, the managers insisted that we listen to the customer and treat their words as true. Complaint with stage four, I would refund all unhappy and unsatisfied customers because I reasoned that is what management would have wanted. However, following within the guidelines of stage five, when a customer would complain about a product that I believed that they should not be able to return, I would refund them. I believe that when a leader has reached the highest level of morality, that they can make the most just and fair decisions for the group. As previously stated, post-conventional morality is the most advanced level of moral development and leaders should strive to achieve this level. I want to be able to detach myself emotionally and enable individual team members to make decisions for themselves. I believe that individuals should have the right to make their own choices and face the consequence. I also believe that leaders should not dictate the moves that members make, and so I would like to strive to be at post-conventional morality level, stage
