Going above and beyond my comfort zone was the aim that I had for this project. I wanted to think outside of the box and interview someone whom I have not known for a great amount of time. After brainstorming about which person I should seek to interview, the thought finally occurred to me. Over the past few weeks, I have downloaded an app from the Apple iTunes store onto my iPhone. You have the option of self-selecting who you want to be your pen pal along with sharing the gift of getting to know someone different from you. I recently became pen pals with a male who was given the name “Lovely Panda” by default. (I will be referring to him as Panda). …show more content…

I was very engaged and interested in the interviewing process. I was able to find some similarities/dissimilarities between Panda and I throughout the interview. Panda stated that friendships are highly valued in his life. I also hold this answer to be true for myself. I found it very interesting that he is part Irish as well. Prior to the interview, I assumed that Panda would be a Democrat or Republican. I also assumed that his parents might have been separated since most of my close friends’ parents are. Evidently, both of those assumptions were indeed false. I learned that making friends completely out of your “comfort zone” is something that I would like to do more often. I am also pleased to have found Panda from the Stigma app. I believe that Panda and I will become great friends and I am looking forward to learning more about each

He started his career after grad school with a small non-profit research organization. His leadership abilities were quickly realized and he became a part of a large company as a Project Manager. He recalls that in his first job, the small size of the company and the nature of operations meant that soon after joining the firm, he started taking up multiple responsibilities with many being outside of his core functional role. This valuable learning experience has allowed him to excel in his current leadership position.…
