Growing up with my single mom, I remember being with her at work after school almost every day. She has been a hairdresser and cosmetologist for as long as I can remember. Each day we learn something new and each day I get closer to working on my very first client. I go to cosmetology for four hours a day, go to Fayetteville High School for the other half of the day, and once school is out I go home to work from 5-12, 5 days a week. Yet when I am at hair school, the time flies by so fast because I’m having so much fun doing things I love. Being there in the morning is a good mental break from reading textbooks and taking notes constantly because I get to do things I’m passionate about and things that are fun to me. Everyday that we learn something new I want to immediately tell my mom about it, because she has been such an enormous inspiration to me. Not only do I want to accomplish becoming a licensed hairstylist I want to achieve my business degree so one day I can open my own salon. I want to expand my creativeness and knowledge and getting a business degree will only further my career.
If it wasn’t for my mom allowing me to be by her side while she was working, or allowing me to color her hair and mine, or let me embrace my creativeness, I don’t know if I ever would have realized my passion for cosmetology. Everyday that I’m in hair school I get closer and closer to reaching my goal of becoming a hairstylist and a salon owner. I’m excited for my future to begin, starting by finishing cosmetology and then graduating from U of A with a business degree. So who ever said hobbies couldn’t turn into
