When getting an Alabama cosmetology license, you must attend a licensed school or complete an apprentice program and complete the state of Alabama's minimum required training hours. For a cosmetologist license I would need 1500 hours in school or 3000 hours as an apprentice. That would cover the “professional” aspect of the job but I did mention being a “successful” artist as well. That comes with advertising and marketing my work, creating a strong portfolio, and building a clientele. Some negatives are that physical stress would be put on my back, makeup equipment and upkeep is expensive, and what I produce may not be something the client is satisfied with.The positives are that I would be making money for doing something that I love, meeting all types of beautiful people, and empowering people by making them look and feel good about themselves. I’d say that the negatives are not too bad and the positives definitely outway them, becoming a makeup and hair artist would be great. Overall, I think that my interest, goal setting, and good and bad contrast of the job still point me in doing hair and makeup. Being a slacker and not being very motivated to do things makes other jobs seem tedious and tiring, however when I just think about doing beauty for people it gets me excited.
