A lamp is turned on, creating a soft glow in the room while the warm smell of pumpkin pie is enough to make it hell for a sleep deprived person to stay awake. I walk to the back of the classroom, and sit exactly in the middle. Then I put my head down, and wait for class to start.…

The video1 starts with me transitioning the students into the classroom through the threshold, and then transitioning the children to the carpet for Ms. Amat’s circle time. Mr. Aguila is primarily in charge of the morning transitioning, so we slightly adapted our normal morning routines so that I could facilitate the process. Mr. Aguilia is required by Gilmor to get the students from the cafeteria, but I took over the transition from the hallway. Since the first day, we have been using a threshold routine for our children in order to really set the expectation for the day and to prevent the children from storming…

I believe that in order to have a successful classroom, a teacher must implement a variety of classroom management strategies to ensure that from September until June every single student gets the best education that he/she deserves. Even before the students arrive, one of the first things a teacher needs to do is make the classroom a warm, welcoming and safe place for each individual student.
