On the one hand, the professionals commented that a team approach to coming up with decisions about AT and the children was necessary. On the other hand, the families were not included in the process (Lahm and Sizemore 2002). The attitude of the participants to the families was contradictory in another way because learning the goals of the parents was considered highly important by discussing significant factors about AT with the parents was not considered important. In conclusion the researchers emphasized the need for parents to be aware of the AT that their child may benefit from because it may be used at home. Lahm and Sizemore (2002: 15) highly recommend considering “a complete and balanced look at the whole child” when deciding about appropriate AT to enhance a child’s quality of life.
