17 Year Old Me Research Paper

Decent Essays
In twenty years, as a board member of a scholarship selection committee, I would award the 17-year-old me a scholarship not because I am simply answering the prompt in my favor, but because I know that the 17-year-old me's dream is to go to college to gain a higher education and has made learning a high priority since elementary school.

The 17-year-old me is determined, hard-working, and understands the struggle of having little money, so I would know that the scholarship would not go to waste; she would use it so that her parents can ease their worry about how she is going to go to college, since they are not able to make any contributions. Knowing that her family earns little income, she has spent most of her high school years dedicating her time to her schoolwork, hoping that she would be qualified to earn scholarships during her senior year. During the other majority of her time, she has volunteered for over 300 hours at various locations and participating in school clubs and activities. I would know that the 17-year-old me relishes these activities, and would continue participating during college as well.

Post High School Outcomes Work is a focal piece of grown-up life, devouring as much as half of our waking hours. Individuals frequently recognize themselves by the work that they do. A job can give a feeling of achievement and pride and enormously affect our general life fulfillment, or it can fill in as a wellspring of frustration and disappointment. From the time a five-year-old steps into their first day of kindergarten till the day they graduate from college, they will hear “you are our future, our next generation, the people who will change things” from elder ones. If the next generation is our future, would that consider a senior in high school to be more valuable than a senior in college in society? If the new generation will bring more excellence, knowledge, and a different outlook to the way things are to insure a better tomorrow, the youngest would hold the most worth. In high school, seniors are the ones who rule the school, and is believed that they will be our next line of doctors who will find a cure for cancer or save our planet from global warming.…

Deserving is a rather strong word in which I cannot seem to find any appropriate synonyms. Because what actually deems a person “deserving” of something? That in itself is what boggles my mind as I write a paper on why, out of all people, I am the deserving one. Well let me tell you. I am a young and adventurous, seventeen year old kid who thinks he knows everything, but in reality, is really just fooling himself, as he is others. With that said, I am also very naive, impulsive, impatient, but in some twisted paradoxical way, very caring.…

College Writing And Reading For The Incoming Freshman The transition between High School and University writing can be challenging to the ill-prepared student. In high school we might have gotten great feedback from teachers about our work: “great job”, “very good” etc, but in college our professors might comment differently most likely because they are searching for something different in college writing. Most often because professors expect a different style of writing than that of a high school class, such as a more developed opinion on the subject rather than a summary of what you researched. The most significant differences are visible in structure, research, argument, and format. In college writing, we move away from the standard…

How long do you expect to live? Although technology is rapidly developing, health care has been improved, and longevity increases more commonly in human evolution, we surely know that lifetime is always a limited three-digit number. I am not an exception, I am also afraid of sickness and death. Essay I am grateful for this opportunity to apply for the Viola B. Wilson Endowed Scholarship and the John S. Staley Memorial Fund scholarships. Scholarship opportunities have been of particular importance to me; I paid for my undergraduate education primarily on my own and will be paying for my graduate schooling on my own as well. While I am asking for financial help, my work ethic and commitment to education are a strong part of who I am. Growing up, it was my responsibility to pay for things that I wanted, and my parents provided me with work opportunities around the house to earn the money.…

While rummaging through a drawer in search of an old photograph, I came across a picture of a teenage girl. Dressed in her navy and gold pep club uniform, she had positioned her pom poms so that they covered each hip. Her golden- blond hair swirled past her shoulders and as my eyes traveled downward I was shocked to see she had missing body parts--someone had taken a pair of scissors and cut her legs completely off. Tossing the photo aside, I continued my search. As I sifted through mountains of pictures I found more photos of this girl ranging in age from her teen years through motherhood.…
