Tossing the photo aside, I continued my search. As I sifted through mountains of pictures I found more photos of this girl ranging in age from her teen years through motherhood. The size of her waist, hips, or thighs, is not nearly as great as the size of her heart.
Obviously she's discovered that all the dieting in the world won't make her happy. What it will do is cost her time, money, and mess up her mind making her feel guilty while steering her toward emotional eating. It will ruin her health, possibly even sending her to the hospital. Simple, healthful, lifestyle changes would be a better route.
And contrary to what the faddish fitness gurus push, she doesn't need to drop and give them fifty to keep her body in shape. Life is too short to slave away in the gym everyday when she might be happier outside gardening, or dancing under the stars.
I'd inspire her to trust her feelings and believe in herself no matter what anyone says to her. She should always hold her head high and walk with a bounce in her step. When she believes in herself, her confidence shows.
Life is too short to wear black. Fat and skinny colors and styles are myths. She should adorn herself in what makes her feel alive and beautiful.
Everyone deserves to be pampered and spoiled every once in a while. Soak in a candlelight bath. Eat that ice cream cone, savor that glass of
