    Crystal Allen, author of How Lamar’s Bad Prank Won a Bubba-Sized Trophy is trying to portray teenage boy Lamar Washington as a confident self-proclaimed maddest, baddest, most spectacular bowler ever at Striker’s Bowling Paradise. Lamar’s summer is about to begin and with it comes the best bowling games, the opportunity in getting a summer job, and will finally get the girl of his dreams. Not to mention that his bowling idol Bubba Sanders is going to make an appearance at his favorite bowling place to announce the winners of the writing competition and the winners will get a special bowling ball. Will Lamar’s summer be everything that he expected? Lamar is a teenage boy that has lost his mother to cancer. By looking at him you do not see a boy that is depressed or unhappy. If anything, he shows the opposite of any unhappiness or depression. Although, beneath all his self-confidence lies a boy with countless of problems and self-confidence is merely a way to hide his pain. He is trying to be strong for his father that is never home. To get away from all the hostility, he goes to Striker’s Bowling Paradise with his best friend Sergio. Here is where Lamar feels that he can be himself and smoke Sergio. Mr. Washington states, “He looks at the family portrait on the wall. They cut my hours today. Things are going to get even tighter than they are.
