What does Plan mean in the SCOR model?

Processes that balance aggregate demand and supply to develop a course of action to best meet all requirements of the supply chain (e.g. sourcing reqs, production reqs, delivery reqs)

What is Source in the SCOR model?

Processes that procure goods/services to meet demand

What is Make in the SCOR model?

Processes that transform raw materials and other inputs into finished products/services to meet demand

What does Deliver mean in the SCOR model?

Processes that provide finished products/services to meet the demands of customers (e.g. transportation activities, order management, online webpage/systems mgmt, distribution and selling activities)

What is Return in the SCOR model?

Processes that are associated with any returns of products for any reasons (e.g. returns policies, after-sales services, customer support)



In services, this stage may deal with refund policies if the customer expectations are not met

Why do companies use SCOR?

-Can help to define key supply chain activities and analyse the supply chain in detail


-Can analyse the strengths and weaknesses in the supply chain (only as strong as your weakest link) so you can see what your SC is designed to do well (SC capabilities)


-Help align business/supply functions with generic competitive strategies (Porter, 1980) (SC capabilities/strategic fit)


-Shows a company how complex/simple their SC is, can this be changed to save costs or become more responsive?
