Yarbrough discusses an engagement model approach that increases the effectiveness of university academic advising programs. The goal of the engagement model is for students and advisors to develop a close relationship. In addition, the model enhances individual tasks and responsibilities between the student advisee and the academic advisor.
In the text, the author believes that the engagement approach is an effective model that increases academic program success. This engagement approach assumes that academic advisors are discussing academic and career goals with students.
