I agreed that distilled drinks, alongside firearms and infectious diseases help reshape the modern world, by helping the Old World to establish themselves as rulers of the New World. Firearm and diseases are the first ones to reach the New World and settle in. But like how, “Brandy helped to kick-start the transatlantic trade with sugar and slaves, but rum made it self-fueling and far more profitable” (Standage 111) distilled drinks like rum was what really reshape and help the people from the Old World to settle in the New World. Rum was a replacement of alcoholic drink that were trade for slaves the Africa. The use of rum, which is distilled mean the alcohol content are dramatically increased, the trader in Africa prefer stronger alcohol drink, which in return they gave you more slaves.With a free workforce and labor, the New World in the south was able to maintain their plantations. Coca-Cola spread dramatically during each war, Every single war that has happen and the United States participate has been a plus the the Coca-Cola company. (Stanage 252) Coca-Cola was seen as something unique and different which cause many uproar when Cola-Cola tried to establish itself into Europe and Russia, for which Pepsi-Cola was able to slip in. But, "Drinking Coca-Cola became a symbol if freedom." (Standage 261) Coca-Cola was still dominate over the competitive Pepsi-Cola. Coca-Cola which originally sold just as a syrup, but with copious amount of advertisement and bottled version of the refreshing drink Coca-Cola became well spread and recognize by the world. "Coca-Cola had taken over the United States; now it was ready to take over the world, going wherever America influence extended."(Standage 249) Coca-Cola which expand throughout the United States, as commonly known more as a drink rather than medicine, they use advertisement like, "Coca-Cola.
