Dating employee to employee has been around for a while now, but times are changing and now some companies do not allow it. Due to this there have been positive and negatives actions due to policies based on one’s company rules. Dating should not be allowed by reason that it can cause major problems. Even though it may have certain positives like making the workplace more comfortable with one another, dating should not be allowed due to it can cause major problems. Having romance in the workplace should not be allowed because it can cause major problems starting with sexual harassment that can be a serious issue in the company; it can also give a bad reputation for the company, and it can be a distraction if the relationship ends badly or …show more content…
According to the article “Is Workplace Dating Really Off Limits?" Statistics show that nearly 85% of 18-29 years old would have a relationship with a coworker oppose to 35% of 30-45 years old. Having that chemistry with a coworker can lead to positive actions like motivating one another to do better or supporting one another if one is feeling down or not focused. “Practically speaking, two people in an office romance can also be a force for good; sharing notes/ideas and collaborating well together.” (Heidel, “Romance In The Workplace: The Good, The Bad And The Ugly”) Working together can be a good thing. There are also some negatives about dating in the workplace. “As the old saying goes "you don't dip your pen in the company ink." In other words, you shouldn't get into a dating or sexual relationship with a co-worker.” (Daskal, "How to Manage Your Romance in the Workplace") Some cons of dating someone in the same job are the most common one in mostly all companies is that it just doesn’t work out which could lead to awkwardness.
