A total of one in three girls are denied an education. One huge reason girls are getting denied an education is because they get married at a young age and have children. Girls are unable to get a higher education due to early marriage. For girls, marriage is seen as a higher priority than education. At home, girls are needed to help out around the house while the husband is off. They don’t have time for an education when no one else is around to help at the house. Once a girl is married or pregnant they are excluded from education. Now they have to take care of kids and do work around the house. Violence in schools is a problem that occurs daily. Teachers, parents, and fellow students can be the one showing violence to girls in school. Although a lot of violence happens in school a lot happens school-related activities. At girlsrights.org it states, “it also happens during school-related activities and in some cases, on the walk to and from school. Consequences of such violence range from unwanted pregnancies at an early age, poor academic performance, high dropout rates and absenteeism, and low self esteem among girls.” This supports the fact of girls being denied an education because these girls aren’t going to school when going to school is dangerous.
