Why Football Should Be Banned

Football. It is the most popular sport in America. The sport that basically owns a day of the week Each year, America makes millions off of televised football events, merchandise, stadium rentals, and so many more things. It would be absolutely unthinkable to ban such a powerful and important sport that has such an impact on us and the community, and it should stay that way. Football is most certainly not the sport to be banned. The main reason people want to ban football is because of the risk of concussions in youth athletes playing this sport. But to their surprise, there is actually not that much concussion risk in youth. According to Elizabeth Pieroth - a concussion specialist for NorthShore University HealthSystem who works with Chicago Bears football players as well as high school sports players,- “Athletes in the NFL play constantly for 20 years and take many hard hits. Football involves a lot of fast running, sharp cuts, and body movement. All of this causes anybody playing football to be much more fit. I read an article on health.usnews.com saying that child obesity is a huge problem in the U.S. More than ⅓ of the kids in America are overweight. The main cause of this is lack of exercise and fitness. Football is one of the main leaders in helping young kids stay in the proper weight class and making sure that they are not overweight. Also, as well as a physical workout, football is a mental workout. According to health and fitness.com, Football helps release a very healthy amount of endorphins which make your moods more stable.
