When you play football none of the kids actully try to tackle you. And you can't really get rid
Allowing kids under the age of fourteen to play tackle football can have severe consequences to their young minds. I personally do not like football but I’m sure there are other ways that younger kids can play football without tackling each other and getting hurt. “ Goldstein and his colleagues advocate for no tackle football before 14 because children’s bodies, particularly their necks and upper bodies, aren’t strong enough to counteract the bobbling of the head and shaking of the brain that occurs during tackles” (Kounang 1). Not only does that sound painful but why would a parent want that for their child.…
People have different thoughts about youth football and have different reasons for letting their kids play football. Some parents played football when they were younger and would like their kids to play growing up. Other parents could possibly have gotten hurt playing football or observed another person get hurt and wouldn’t let their children play because of that. Those examples are some way that it ties back into the social learning theory. Everyone has an agenda, whether it’s in hopes of his or her kids going to the league or if its hopes of their kids going to college for free, the social learning theory says that people learned from “observation, imitation, and modeling”(Bandura 1971), which explains why parents think the way they think.…
Since of these high risks, football shouldn’t be played since it can be life-threatening, it can cause CTE (Chronic traumatic encephalopathy), and young children really do not understand the risks. Children really shouldn’t play football.…
Should college football players receive money for participating in a football game? Or when players receive a scholarship, payment enough? Craig Keolanui argues that if the players received payment, then fewer players would break the team or NCAA rules. Also he argues that they need compensation for the sacrifices they pay every day for the team. However, the amount of money one would receive does not affect whether or not one will disobey the rules.…
If my child wanted to play tackle football, I would let them because people are making it safer everyday and I am informed enough to make sure my child is safe. Football is one of the most played sports in the United States; therefore, people are continuing to make it safer. This sport involves repetitive trauma to the head and takes an overall toll on ones body. This trauma can lead to more serious repercussions, if not noticed. This trauma can be subsided with changes to the game.…
Why college athletes should be paid In 2007 a collegiate football player, Stanley Doughty, gave up his senior year to play for the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL and was signed to play for $400,000 for the next 2 years, but found out later that he had a cervical spine injury and he was one hit away from being paralyzed so he was cut by the Chiefs. He needed surgery for it but South Carolina, the college he went to, refused to pay for it even though these players make billions of dollars for their colleges every year (TheAtlantic). These colleges obviously just care about making money and using the players for their sake. If Doughty was able to receive some type of benefit for playing he would have been better off, but instead he has no college…
Watching kids in youth football leagues repetitively tackle each other makes some parents cringe, yet football is still one of the most popular sports. Why? Possibly because kids who play football gain more than they lose. Participating in a contact sport has more often than not been the solution to calming energetic kids as well as teaching them the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, and competitiveness. And yes, it is true that football is a contact sport and kids may get concussions.…
Everyone watches college sports. You watch it on tv and sometimes go to the game, but where does that money go that you pay to get in. You are paying the NCAA and they might use in for funds. But they make a ton of money. Which is why they should pay college athletes to play.…
Ever since January 18th, 1896 the day college basketball was invented and November 6th, 1869 the day college football was invented there has been controversy over college athlete being paid. Some people believe that college athletes are classified as amateurs and that they should not reap any benefits such as money for participating in their sport. Some people believe that all college athletes deserve to receive compensation in exchange for their talents. Lastly, some people believe that only a selected few athletes deserve to be paid such as college football and college basketball players. Division I college football and basketball players should be paid because of the vast amount of money annually grossed by the NCAA and Universities.…
My Dad played College basketball and he had a everyday job like everyone else and did not get payed. He had a scholarship and everything. He had to come back home because his mom had cancer and later died. He went back to college and still did not get payed and he is doing just fine right now so college athletes should not get paid. The college athletes that think that they should get paid are wrong.…
College athletics bring in 11 billion dollars every year, but none of it goes to the players. The top college sports coaches can earn millions of dollars per year, and the players get nothing. College athletes should be paid to play. A lot of college athletes are poor, or come from poor families, so getting paid to play their sport could help them out a lot (listland.com, 2015). College athletes deserve to be paid because they spend a lot of time practicing and playing their sport.…
Youth football has been part of American sports for many decades. As I was sitting in class pondering a topic, I suddenly came upon the idea to tackle the question which as of late is a popular one. Is youth football a healthy sport to be played by our youth? I have a nephew 13 years old currently playing the sport, which by the way I myself refused to play. Most recently during a game which I had attended at Northview middle school where my nephew goes, a teammate of my nephew was going through a routine play, when suddenly he was blindsided by an unsuspecting blow.…
Studies say that kids who participate in sports and aerobic exercise do better in school and have a higher graduation rate. In my opinion kids should be allowed to play tackle football because it helps keep them fit and healthy and has a positive effect on their learning skills and behavior. As an American tenager who enjoys playing tackle football I believe that football is a fun, safe activity for everyone and it is mandatory that parents let their children play football if they choose. According to the article by Michael Lupton, the biggest health risks in the U.S. comes from not…
