Often time when we think of children, we don’t think of them as being a capable of much, especially not murder. However, throughout history children have been convicted of committing some of the most heinous murders. “I killed because people like me are mistreated every day. I did this to show society ‘push us and we will push back!’ throughout my life I was ridiculed. Always beaten, always hated. Can you, society, truly blame me for what I do?” Those are the word of Luke Woodham, who is a convicted American murderer
Luke Woodham born on February 5, 1981, was only 16 years old when he murdered three people, including his mother in 1997. Luke Woodham describes his childhood as one where he was neglected by his mother. During his confession Luke said his mother deserved it because she never loved him, and often called him fat and lazy. At trial Luke Woodham stated that his earliest childhood memories were of life his parents fighting and finally divorcing when he was in the sixth grade. Woodham testified that he was often left without adult supervision, and described his childhood as lonely. According to Woodham he has suffered him depression since the early age of eight. He also claimed to have been severely bullied throughout his life. He said his classmate began picking on him as early as kindergarten.
