Child Soldiers Amnesty

You look out your window and see a small child running with a rifle larger than them. You see them put the scope up to their eye and doesn't hesitate to put their finger on the trigger and pull. You see a soldier fall down and the child scurry away. Child soldiers are one of the major society our world has today. These child soldiers should receive amnesty, because they were threatened,drugged, and deserve justice. One reason why these children should receive amnesty is because they were intimidated into it.For example In the article from Time, "Hope for Uganda's Child Soldiers?" it states:
Just 14 when he was abducted near his northern Ugandan house by the Lord's Resistance Army, he never said a word to anyone about escaping from the rebels'

For instance, the article “To what extent should child soldiers be held accountable for their crimes?” the author states “More often than not children have no say in whether they enlist or not and once recruited the children become brainwashed through the use of drugs and alcohol.” This shows that these children were put up against the use of not only drugs but alcohol. To add further information, in the same article it also states “The drugs, often cocaine mixed with gunpowder, brainwash the children to the point where they would rather not escape from the horror unraveling around them”. This proving what danger was presented through the drugs and out in these childrens’ bodies. There is another author that states facts about these child soldiers becoming who they are because of the drugs. This author’s name is Scott Gates who wrote “Think Again: Child Soldiers” , in this article he wrote “It was often coerced children, and often high or drunk ones, who perpetrated the acts.” This meaning that the children did get “high” off the drugs and brainwashed from the …show more content…
Yes that is a valid point, these children were forced to do this, and had role models that taught them to do these cruel things all their life. For example in the article “Armed and Underage” the text states, “Children do not have many options in Somalia… Their growth has been stunted by conflict- introduced famines,their psyches damaged by all the killings they have witnessed.” This piece of text shows an example of how they had role models that taught them how to act cruel. It also shows how they had no other choices, they either kill or get killed. In conclusion of what has just been presented, child soldiers in all 6 world countries and more should receive amnesty. They should not be tried as adults because they are not of age. These children are raised as robots who kill with no feeling. Can you blame them for being raised that way? When you are five years old are you going to know the right from wrong when your parents tell you to do something? After taking in the information about the child soldiers around the world and how they are threatened, drugged, forced, and deserve justice, these children deserve amnesty from
