After reading about both the heroic Beowulf and what Emerson’s ideas of what a hero is, I truly believe that Emerson would consider Beowulf to be a hero to a certain extent. This is because Beowulf has qualities that Emerson considers heroic: such as having a warlike attitude towards evil, being confident (sometimes too confident), not worrying about the difficulty or safety of his task, and being unaffected in his pursuit of vanishing evil.
