Definition Of A Hero Essay

“A hero or heroine is a person or character who, in the face of danger and adversity or from a position of weakness, displays courage or self-sacrifice. “ When most people think of the word hero, one might think of a person with power helping those who are in trouble, but heroism can be anybody. A hero can be a teacher, a mother or father, or even a person such as myself. Heroes are everywhere you look, you never know what influence you may have on someone. Somethings that can be simple to one can make a huge difference in someone else’s life such as a simple hello. The essay “Train from Hate”, by John Hope Franklin, is about an African American mother and her two children who boards a train from coming back from Checotah after gaining supplies to travel back home. Unfortunately they enter the train through the whites’ only section and are advised that they need to go to the colored section. The mother tells the conductor that she does not think it will be safe for her and her children to move to the color section while the train is in motion in which the conductor agrees. Some people do not know that they are even someone’s hero. When a person has the power to stand strong and fight for what they believe in they too can be a hero. These are the type of people that give others hope and save lives each and every day. You do not have to have super powers to save someone, you do not have to be in a position or a career where the main goal is to save someone’s life such as a doctor, a policeman or a firefighter. Heroes can be everyday people, such as a teacher; who teaches kids the everyday essentials of life to grow and be a better person, a parent; who guides and raise their children and protect their children, and even a janitor or trash man; people that help keep the environment clean for our safety and
