What if I told you, you had the opportunity to go back in time? You could return two, three, five years, maybe even a week back. During this time you acquire the chance to change that one mistake, or the deep regret you felt when you believed to have ultimately made the worst decision of your life. Think about that moment and question what made this moment such a difficult time in your life. It may have been due to heartbreak, failure, fear, defeat, or maybe even a physical or emotional pain. Asking myself this question I initially thought, of course, I would change mostly everything. There aren’t enough redo buttons in the world for my list of mistakes. Like the time I failed miserably on my ACT, or the time I didn’t stand up to that bully in the fourth grade, or the time I made that regrettable mistake, which resulted in a major altercation between me and my parents. But then I began to think about how even if I could somehow make these changes to my past, would I still be the person I am today?
To illustrate my point, I believe that God has a purpose instilled inside each and every person and that every event in our lives happens for a reason. Whether that person was predestined to do something good or maybe they make a few poor choices in order for a positive outcome to occur, I believe that if I were to go back and change some of those moments in my life that I originally thought I regretted, I wouldn’t be the same person I am today or even standing where I am now.
