How Do I Decide Essay

The film entitled “How do I decide?” mainly surrounds the subject of how humans make decisions and how the brain manages this task inside our heads. The narrator explores the journey we take through life making multiple decisions daily which allows us to become more aware of who we really are. When we make even the simplest decision, the many tiny electrical impulses that are located in our brains called neurons are lit up and activated to compete in a “powerful struggle” that helps us to make the best choice. Our own emotions allow us to create values associated with particular events and help us separate what is important to us and what is not worth our time. Logic and Reasoning, however, helps when we have critical, intellectual decisions to make. These two help us to make responsible, moral choices and make it easier to decide what we want and need fast. When it comes to our outer selves, we physically react when making a decision and when we try to decipher what we want our bodies change but in a very subtle way. The body predicts what we decide to do even before we consciously know what we should choose. Biologically, we have chemicals like hormones that are hidden but they greatly serve as an aid in decision making.
