What Does Sobek Mean To Me

Decent Essays
When I'm feeling lonely and scared I always think of the god sobek. He makes me feel secure and protected. Sobek is the god of strength and power.I often think about Sobek when I am with my family. This makes sense because he is also known as the god of fertility since his sweat was believed to have created the Nile River. When i’m with my mom and dad I feel Sobek’s presents because my mom and dad are always looking out and protecting me, just like Sobek protected the Pharaoh. I am a better person when Sobek is with me because it makes me want to protect my younger family members. Just like the god Sobek I am healthy and strong like a crocodile so I can protect my family. Sobek makes me look forward to being a father so I could make my own

I’m going to start by saying that poetry is my least favorite type of literature, I find it confusing, and often difficult to interpret. The Red Wheelbarrow is not very long, so it is a bit easier to analyze. I read the poem a few times myself, but was having a hard time painting a picture in my head, so I found a website that allowed me to have The Red Wheelbarrow read aloud. This allowed me to close my eyes, and really think about the words of the poem. After I listened to the poem a few times, I had not only a picture painted in my head, but a better understanding of the poem.…

Heart-aking thoughts here I had about my poor Children, who were scattered up and down amongst the wild Beasts of the Forest : my head was light and dizzy (either through hunger, or hard lodging, or trouble, or all together) my knees feeble, my body raw by sitting double night and day, that I cannot express to the man the affliction that lay upon my spirit, but the Lord helped me at that time to express it to himself. (13-14) In this passage from A True History of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson, Rowlandson briefly expresses her concerns for her children who are, like herself, being held in captivity by local tribes of Native Americans. The next morning, I saw the newspaper while I was eating breakfast. On the front page, there was a story about a young boy who saved a woman’s life. She was going to walk into her house and end herself, but he smiled and waved at her from across the street. He ran over to her and asked her how her day was, in a completely mundane conversation, which led to her talking to him for hours. His mere existence on that day and in that place changed her whole perspective, resulting in her deciding to spare her life for the hope that she could help others like her.…

A Kindred Spirit A Kindred spirit I've found. Soft, gentle eyes of darkest brown betray the torment within. To be alone with you, if only for a moment- to see inside the man who’s dark, haunting, incredibly beautiful poetry, soothes my soul when put to song. Writing about it, keeps it at bay - his voice, encapsulating the thoughts of us unbalanced ones, that hang by a thin thread - our demons, leashed, kept near enough to pull out and examine and then put away...…
