Think about your current job or, if you’re not employed, the job you want after you graduate. Describe the responsibilities and then write about how you will incorporate marketing into your work.
Currently I work for the Department of Homeland Security as a transportation security officer and as a communications specialist. Half of my time is split between working with the public securing terminals and performing screening functions. The other half is spent in an office writing different applications for different webpages, creating presentations for different security directors and upper management for current and up coming events that are going on throughout the year. Also throughout the month my co-workers and I work on a monthly newsletter that goes out to the organization detailing different policy changes, health tip and up coming events that are going on.

When I’m doing my primary position in security I use marketing in the way that interact with the public explaining the procedures that have to go on during the screen process. By highlighting the reasons why I have to do certain things I emphasize the need for safety and how it benefits them and myself as well. Also the uniform I wear is a form of marketing as well. By having a well-put together uniform it conveys a since of authority and confidence on both ends. Authority and confidence on my end because it shows that I care about my job and the way I present myself.
