He continues with talking about the system of the reward of money and what money means to teens. He compares the differences of going to work and getting fifty dollars a week and going to school and getting 40 credit hours a week. He leads the attention of money to credits like this in order to let the parents realize that work in the minds of the teen is an escape from school and responsibilities, “a quick gratification and a shortcut to the complex aspects of adult life.” as he states.
Finally, Etzioni believes that parents should reflect over the idea of having their teens go to work for companies like McDonald's because of the negative issues that come with the uniform, and talk about what is best for the teens future as he or she develops. He warns families to look at the teen’s employment benefits, and not automatically assume that it is 100% educational. He thinks that teens should look at all the pros and cons to a situation and judge if it is best for them.
